A close-knit group of born-and-raised Tampa gentlemen joined forces eight years ago to coordinate the first annual Pig Jig to raise funds to benefit the NephCure Foundation in honor of their dear friend, Will, who was diagnosed with FSGS in 2009. What began as a backyard BBQ has grown into the Tampa Pig Jig on the River, a waterfront blowout with great bands, delicious food, fun games, and more than 6,000 attendees last year.
Over the past 7 years, the Pig Jig event has raised over $3,000,000 with all proceeds benefiting NephCure Kidney International. Our goal for this year alone is to raise $1,000,000! Help us ‘Cue Up a Cure for FSGS!
Last year an incredible group of film makers from Notre Dame University joined us at the Tampa Pig Jig to document the event and Will Wellman’s ongoing journey with FSGS. The film is called “Learning to Live on Dialysis and Inspiring Those Around Him”. We are constantly inspired by Will’s grace and strength in light of his medical issues. We continue to work towards our goal of finding a cure for FSGS so that Will can one day be freed from dialysis.
Tampa Pig Jig is organized and executed solely by the help of volunteers. Join our passionate team today to help the cause and have fun while doing so! We are seeking day-of event volunteers to assist with registration, ticket sales, parking, silent auction, merchandise sales, beverage pouring/bartenders, games, grounds maintenance and more. Let us know what your interests are and we’ll find a task for you!
Are you the master of your grill? Prove it by competing in a friendly, amateur BBQ competition with a chance to win trophies, prizes, and if you really know your stuff, the “Overall Grand Champion” bragging rights for one year.
