With the 10th annual Tampa Pig Jig on the horizon, the Old Florida Federation proudly announced four community partnerships with Tampa-based brands to help raise additional funds for the critical fight against the rare kidney disorder, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Buddy Brew Coffee, Chill Bros. Scoop Shop, Florida Avenue Brewing Co. and Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops have each developed custom creations available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds going back to the Tampa Pig Jig and NephCure Kidney International, the only nonprofit dedicated to finding a treatment and cure for FSGS and nephrotic syndrome.
“Brew Up a Cure” is a custom coffee blend created especially for the Tampa Pig Jig by Buddy Brew Coffee. The unique combination of fresh specialty-grade coffee beans from Guatemala and El Salvador delivers a bright and balanced cup that goes down easily. It’s chock full of rich, dark chocolate and walnut notes, with subtle hints of smoky spice and pecan wood. Developed and churned for Tampa’s favorite fundraising event, “The Pig Jig” is Chill Bros. take on the perfect barbecue accompaniment. The brown sugar bourbon ice cream features applewood smoked bacon brittle for the perfect crunch. The Pig Jig is available for purchase at Tampa Bay area Chill Bros. locations beginning on October 1.
For the fourth year, Florida Avenue Brewing Co. is creating its “Pig Jig Lager.” Light and crisp, the lager features a light malt sweetness upfront, followed by the refreshing marriage of fresh lime zest and sea salt. Pig Jig Lager is available for sale at select local beverage retailers and at the Florida Avenue Brewing Co. taproom and restaurant in Wesley Chapel beginning on October 4.
Finally, Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops will keep Tampa Bay cool and refreshed with the “Pig Jig Pop,” which harkens to the event’s bright yellow and red colors. The delicious popsicle is a blend of strawberry and mango with a vibe that’s tastefully true to Tampa Bay. The “Pig Jig Pop” is available for purchase at Hyppo Pop locations throughout Tampa Bay beginning on October 1.
The 2021 Tampa Pig Jig will host more than 70 barbecue teams in a fierce amateur competition on Saturday, October 23. The tenth annual event is headlined by GRAMMY award-winning artist Darius Rucker and features Brett Young, Judah and the Lion, and Wilderado.
